Nanjing University-History:

1. In 1902, Nanjing University NU was founded. At that time it has the name of National Central University, at the end of the time of Qing Dynasty.
2. Nanjing is the first Chinese modern university with the mixture of education and research.
3. For the International Students in 1955, NU established foundation of International Students.
4. Nanjing University received over 18,000 international candidates representing 70 countries.
5. Nanjing University’s several faculties, institutes, departments and schools have been re-founded since 1978.
6. The Nanjing University has faces many changes in its campuses from time to time.

Nanjing University Campus :

NU has two main campuses, Gulou and Xianlin and Pukou, the distance between both campuses is about 18 Kilometers. The main campus itself parted into two sections; in Bei Yuan teaching and research take place and in Nan Yuan is living area for the students and academic staff. Pukou campus is situated in Pukou District. The Nanjing University’s location has changed many times.

The History Museum of Nanjing University was established in 2002.  History Museum presents the overview of the 100 years Nanjing University. It displays its outstanding and prominent alumni. It displays achievements in Teaching, community service, research and international exchange.

Geoscience Museum:

Geoscience Museum displays specimens of:

• Ores
• Rocks
• Paleontological fossils
• Vestige specimens
• Artificial models
• Gem and jade sample
• Craftworks papers or documents.

Digital Museum of Chinese Universities and Earth Science Digital Museum:

This is ongoing national project funded by the Ministry of Education, the task or purpose behind this museum is that via digital technologies provide online virtual representations. Another important part of the project is that to search for create a virtual representation of the earth that helps or facilitates exploration. This will provide to know about the natural environment to human life.

Digital Museum of Biological:

This Museum serves for both such as research and educational purposes. Digital Museum of Biological provides information about the different biological resources.

Art and Archaeology Museum:

This Museum exhibits over 700 artworks and artifacts of artistic and historical values. The Museum serves both purposes as research and education.

Library:

Library of Nanjing University has the collection of around 4.654 million volumes. Library holds more than 10 rooms for reading and 1300 seats.
